I haven't posted in a few months. I was trying to get things done, and they are. Both the film, and trailer, are done. Here is the latter:

Out of the shower... Scene

(Allen tells Katy that he's going to NYC to meet his friend Mike.)
Just finished a two hour editing session. The two hours was probably the longest I've worked, so far. I've been editing one hour at a time, four times a day.
"Cutting and pasting" worked in the shower scene, and I was able to finish it up.
I'm continuing to work on the montage scene. Right now, it's a lot longer than I thought it was going to be, but I love all of it so much, that I don't want to cut anything. I'm about 75% done with it.

In the Shower... Scene
I'm working on one of the shower scenes in the movie, because that's all people do in my flicks - take showers. I'm having a TON of issues with the audio. I'm not too worried about it. The way I shot it, I could get away with "cutting and pasting". I could also just re-record it at a later time, if needed.
Just in case, I dl'd Audacity. I was going to go with Sound Forge 9, because it's Sony, but I can't afford it. Audacity, being open source, is free. I haven't tested it out yet. I'm hoping that Vegas will recognize it as an external editor, and that I don't run into any problems.

And it begins
Just cut two scenes. I cut the very first scene, and one of the last. I'm pretty happy with the both of them. Of course, there are things that I wish I had done differently, but that's how it always is.
The only problem I'm having so far is getting to know Sony Vegas Pro 8. I used Sony Video Vegas 6 for awhile. They're similar in as many ways as they're different. I haven't figured out how to un-link audio and video. When I want to use just the audio, I forced to drop the video's opacity down to 0%. The same thing is happening with the video and audio's dB's. With the older version, all you had to do was right click on the clip and click link/un-link.
I'll get it all figured out, eventually. I'm not all that worried.

16 Weeks and...
On December 11th, of last year, I posted this:
"I just handed off all of the footage to L.E. Salas. He edited "A New and Accurate Map of the World" and he's now going to edit "Because of Time and Space". He's a FAR better editor than I am. He's also much more enthusiastic about the post-production aspect of film-making than I am."
Fast forward 4 months, and not a single frame has been edited. I collected all of the footage from the editor this week, after he told me he couldn't edit it.
I don't understand it. I could live to be a thousand years old and probably not understand it. He just sat on the footage for sixteen weeks. The only explanation I got was, "I don't have the time".
I would be able to live with that IF he had told me that in January, or IF he hadn't told me he was finished a couple weeks ago.
MOVING ON
I'm once again editing the film. I finished digitizing the eighteen hours of footage I have. I'm going to get to work on it ASAP.
